Gibson TB-1 Special, c.1939:.. £ 1,850.00

Dk red stained maple, style 3 neck with ‘fiddle’ peghead & truss rod, rosewood fbd with fancy inlays, thick ‘Mastertone’ style rim with simple brass hoop tonering & 2 pce flange, Grover tuners, ‘clamshell’ tpce, nickel plated hardware, double bound resonator, a strange one for sure…looks like a late ‘20s Style 3 ‘Mastertone’ but has Style 1 tonering and unengraved block inlay at 19th fret, shown in the Gibson ledger as one of a batch of at least 48 similar instruments, Style 3 discontinued by this time (replaced by Style 75) so possibly they were using up old stock parts, easy player with power and tone for jazz or Celtic stylings, EC, OHC.
